Never ceases to amaze me why the playground was located beside a river that flood each year. Or worse – still no lifebouy!

Thanks very much for your feedback. I would not be a bit surprised if Starbucks used such strong arm tactics as you refer to. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Luckily in Bandon all our coffee shops are privately run and most provide papers free of charge for their customers use while enjoying the coffee. Strong arm tactics don’t work so well in small places where word of mouth can be devastating – Unfortunately this doesn’t apply in cities where the Starbucks outlets are based.

Thanks very much for your comments. I haven’t been back since my first visit. Given your comments. perhaps things have changed so next time I visit Fota, I’ll try it out again. Perhaps I was just unlucky with my choices.

I am concerned about Starbuck’s strong-arm tactics and the scripted “conversations” used on customers to sell the new product. They show a rather sad view of the customer (as well as other people). My initials thoughts when i read your review is that you may be affiliated with a certain competitor! I have visited the Bramely Lodge Food Store and Cafe on several occasions and I have recieved the most scrumptious fine food. I have actually seen a certain well known television chef dining there on more than one occasion .My advice to you is give it a second chance as hundreds of people are frequenting the establishement, including myself,on a regualr basis.

I was delighted by the beautiful look of the newly renovated Church restaurant but the food and service were truly terrible. Go there at your peril. I live in England and love returning home for some real food but I was only reminded of the type of cheap pub grub which the English are renowned for at this restaurant. We booked a week in advance and despite the fact that there appears to be lots of staff we waited with our guests for quite a while to be seated. There were five of us in total and we gave our order. The food arrived in stages, our guests firstly who insisted upon waiting for the rest to arrive and was thus cold, the remainder arrived in 2 groups 5 minutes apart. I would describe the meals as plates of mush with fatty gravey and butter. Definately not Irish cusine to match the surroundings. The waitress did not know how to pour wine – its not that hard! and to add insult to injury the bill was dumped between our guests while we were eating the meal. When we complained we were told that it was policy yet there are numbers on the tables or maybe a discreet dish to put the bills in might be a help. Again the desert bill was dumped between our guests while they were eating the desert. The deserts were pricey and small. Finally, after dumping 2 bills on our table one has to pay downstairs at the counter so I dont see the point at all of being so rude. Finally the tip cannot be put on the credit/debit card so the inexperienced waitress lost out. We felt sorry for her. Too many chiefs and chaos – We will never return.

Some of the papers are held in the National Library in Dublin and some are in the library in Dungarvan. Unfortunately, as far as I know, you will have to visit the libraries in person to delve through these records.

I have received a statement stating that my subscription has expired. This is the first notice I have received. I have tried to find a local phone number to contact you but have not been able to find one. Please contact me to straighten this matter out. I also subscribe for a friend and do no want the subscription to lapse.
